Just hours after a tough loss to Ohlone, Lassen College’s volleyball team responded with poise and power, sweeping Porterville College in straight sets (25-11, 25-22, 25-15) Saturday afternoon at Ohlone College.

The Cougars dominated from the service line and executed a balanced attack, hitting .161 as a team and delivering 15 service aces. Mackenzee Sills led the offense with 9 kills, while Kennidi Smith and Vanessa Lott each added 7 kills in a well-rounded effort.

Setting duties were shared efficiently between Lucy Platz, who dished out 19 assists, and Meleny Medina, who added 8. Ruby Dechambeau served a career-high 6 aces, helping Lassen apply pressure throughout the match and keeping the Pirates on their heels.

Defensively, Pacey Harris anchored the back row with 17 digs, and Abby Robles added 6, as Lassen held Porterville to a lowly .010 hitting percentage. The win pushes the Cougars back above .500 on the season and closes out a busy weekend with momentum heading into conference play.
