Lassen continues winning streak at home
The Lassen men's soccer team knew that in order to gain another W in their win column, they would need to launch a full assault offensively against the College of the Siskiyous. The game plan played off with Lassen (7-5) running away with a 3-1 conference victory against Siskiyous on their home turf yesterday.
The Cougars started the match by creating goal scoring opportunities and their efforts were rewarded with an early goal from Simbarase Makuchete in the 20th minute and assisted by a perfectly timed pass from Noah Villemeur.
As the second half began, Lassen midfielder Marcos Paiz scored a brilliant goal in the 54th minute assisted again by Noah Villemeur, thus doubling his assist tally for the match. Minutes later, in the 58th minute, Cougar's striker Caik Silva scored from a cleverly chipped pass that beat the backline of Siskiyous by Marcos Paiz, giving Lassen a three goal lead heading into the half.
As the second half unfolded, Lassen looked like they were going to get their second shutout win in a row, but Siskiyous made a strong effort, scoring a late goal as time ran out.
"Today's victory was great for our team morale and cohesion" said Head Coach Alex Machin. "A conference victory is always a positive and I'm very pleased with the style of soccer we played today. We aim to establish a winning culture moving forward."
The Cougars will play their next match against Lake Tahoe Community College in Lake Tahoe, CA on Friday October, 15 at 2 pm.
