Cougars Celebrate Sophomore Night with 83-75 Win Over Shast
On a special Sophomore Night inside the Bob Genasci Sports Complex, the Lassen College men’s basketball team honored its sophomores with an 83-75 victory over Shasta in Golden Valley Conference play. After trailing 46-41 at halftime, the Cougars responded with a dominant 42-point second half to secure the emotional home win.
Sophomore DeCarlo Browne delivered a night to remember, erupting for 31 points on 15-of-19 shooting while adding nine rebounds and five blocks. Browne controlled the paint from start to finish, anchoring Lassen on both ends of the floor. Fellow sophomore Sam Hogmalm recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four steals, while Isaiah Garcia added 17 points in a strong offensive showing. Jeremiah Collins facilitated the offense with seven assists, helping the Cougars shoot an impressive 57.6% from the field.
The night was about more than just the final score. Lassen’s sophomores were recognized pregame for their leadership, commitment, and impact on the program. They responded with one of the team’s most complete performances of the season, defending their home floor with pride and giving the Cougar faithful.
