Redwoods Pulls Away in Second Half to Defeat Cougars
The Lassen College men’s basketball team faced a tough challenge Saturday afternoon, falling to Redwoods 93-63 in Golden Valley Conference play. Redwoods shot the ball exceptionally well from the perimeter and built a 47-27 halftime lead before maintaining control in the second half.
Sam Hogmalm led the Cougars with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting and a 5-of-6 performance from the free throw line. DeCarlo Browne added 12 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double effort, continuing his consistent presence on the glass. McKay Robert provided an efficient 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while Isaiah Garcia chipped in 12 points.
Lassen shot 45% from the field but struggled from three-point range, going just 2-of-12 (16.7%). Redwoods connected on 18 three-pointers and shot over 60% from the field, spreading the floor and moving the ball effectively with 31 assists. Despite competing on the boards and getting balanced scoring, the Cougars were unable to overcome Redwoods’ offensive efficiency. Lassen will look to regroup and tighten up defensively as conference play continues.
