Cougars Drop Second-Half Conference Opener at Siskiyous

The Lassen College men’s basketball team opened the second half of Golden Valley Conference play with a 61-44 road loss to Siskiyous on January 31. The Eagles built a 35-23 halftime lead and maintained control in the second half to secure the win.

Lassen struggled to find offensive rhythm, shooting 32.7% from the field and 4-of-17 (23.5%) from three-point range. McKay Robert led the Cougars with 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting, while Isaiah Lassiter added eight points, six rebounds, and three assists. Malachi Green contributed eight points off the bench. DeCarlo Browne was held scoreless but made his presence felt on the glass with nine rebounds and two blocks.

Siskiyous shot 47.1% from the field and 38.9% from beyond the arc, led by Jeremy Gaut’s 18 points and Julius Blair’s 14 points off the bench. The Eagles also controlled the boards with a 36-23 rebounding advantage.

The Cougars will look to regroup as conference play continues, focusing on offensive efficiency and rebounding consistency in the games ahead.
