On Friday, April 14, the Cougars faced off against both Feather River and Sierra College in Quincy. The first match versus top-ranked conference foe Feather River resulted in a 0-5 loss. The Cougars saw significant progress from their top 3 pairs teams in the contest, all competing in the sets and feeling good about the process. The second match versus Sierra College resulted in a 1-4 loss as they forfeited a doubles match. Lassen saw the most exciting set of conference play yet in the second set in the #2 seed doubles team versus the Lassen doubles team of Nord and Ortega, coming down to a point-by-point set, barely losing 20-22 to push a third set. “We were able to spend two days of practice on the sand this past week with the weather cooperating, and the team really made big strides. We saw the team be able to execute some defensive strategies we practiced this past week, and while the scores didn’t show it, we did feel good about our day. The team is looking forward to being on the sand the last week of the regular season and finishing strong,” said Coach Morris.
